A mom agreed to provide her 12-year-old daughter get a nose piercing — and now she’s being shamed by other parents.
Tink — @cherries_87 on TikTok — posted a video sharing that her daughter Ruby desired to get her nose pierced, and he or she would let her do it if the video got 25,000 likes.
Ruby was in luck since the video quickly gained traction: As of Thursday morning, the unique video had garnered greater than 86,000 likes.
When the video hit 27,000 likes, Tink posted a follow-up video saying, “Remind me to never, ever do something like this again on an app where she is loved a lot.
“So, yes, I’m an individual of my word. She’s going to have her nose done,” she said.
Within the next video, a blue-gloved Tink may very well be seen piercing Ruby’s nose, documenting the method from marking the spot for the opening, cleansing the world, the actual piercing and, ultimately, revealing the end result.
Ruby appeared very joyful with the piercing within the video, and plenty of people commented to say how good it looked.
But others had a more negative response.
One person questioned, “what is going to the college say” — and Tink responded.
“I did get a phone call from the college today, which we knew that was going to occur,” she explained. “The teacher did stop Ruby and was like, they’ve got a no face piercing rule at the college so we want to abide by it. But the top of 12 months 7 did ring me, and we’ve got come to a compromise.”
Tink shared that for the subsequent three to 4 weeks, Ruby will wear somewhat plaster over her nose to cover up the piercing, and while it’s healing over the summer, she’ll buy her daughter a see-through bar to wear within the pierced nose in school the next yr.
“So it’s not that bad. We did get told off. We did get a slap on the wrist, and he or she was told that she wasn’t allowed to any lessons until they’d spoken to me. But once we spoke to them, and I said that I’d compromise — every part was OK,” she said.
Tink also responded to comments that mom-shamed her over her decision to let Ruby get her piercing.
“What a tremendous mum not,” someone commented on her original video.
“I’m not quite sure where this comment’s come from within the sense of calling me out like that,” she responded in a video. “In a world where schools are struggling to take care of bullies, and youngsters are getting picked on for anything possible — their teeth, their ears, their eyes, their height — they get bullied for absolutely every part.
“If my child has come to me asking to have something done that makes her be ok with herself, in a spot that’s so horrible, that’s why I done it. She wanted that to make herself feel good, so I done it for her,” Tink continued.
“It’s come from a spot of affection and it’s come from a spot of want for her to go to high school feeling confident and never worrying about bullies saying anything. So thanks in your comment but her nose is doing very well, and it really suits her.”
Someone commented in response, “No person should’ve said that to you you’re an excellent mum x.”
“Massive Respect To you Truthfully. I even have a Daughter myself who’s 7 and truthfully i might the exact same if she was older enough Obviously,” one other wrote.
“[Your’re] a tremendous mam everyone seems to be different you’re just attempting to make your child’s life higher and make the faculties a greater place to go to,” a user said.
