The dresses just didn’t cut it for them.
A video of bridesmaids making dangerous alterations to their dresses throughout the wedding has divided TikTok users.
TikToker Emma.league posted a video of herself and the opposite bridesmaids in the marriage party cutting up their lengthy, pink dresses, with the overlay text reading: “When all the bridesmaids decided we were gonna cut our dresses after the reception began.”
The video, posted in late February, has been viewed over 12 million times and has nearly 700 thousand likes on the social media app.
Many first wondered (and hoped) if the bride knew they were making the changes.
“Please tell me the bride knew and was okay with this,” one user wrote, to which Emma replied that she did and was okay with them making the changes.
Doubling all the way down to assure users that they avoided a serious bridezilla disaster, a video showed the bridesmaids dancing and having fun with the reception with the bride after the snip-snapping, however the comment section wasn’t so able to let the last-minute alterations slide.
“I could be livid – the final result looks s**t,” one user commented.
“Those are literally cute dresses – I wouldn’t have cut mine. I’d use the dress for a photoshoot then sell it,” one other user wrote, criticizing the ladies’s selection to chop the dresses.
“The wild and crazy bridesmaids stole attention from the bride with crazy antics,” one user wrote, calling out the ladies.
“I’d be the bride that pays for his or her dresses cause I won’t make anyone buy their very own. So I’d be pretty annoyed,” one other commented.
While some were shocked and upset concerning the last-minute changes, others praised the ladies’s ingenuity.
“That is such a clever idea. Nobody ever wears their bridesmaid dress again, in any case,” on TikToker user commented.
“The literal version of ‘you may cut it short and wear it again,” one other wrote with the cry-laughing emoji.
“I actually said the opposite day if my wedding dress gets in my way within the evening I’ll just get scissors and cut it myself,” one other joked, sympathizing with the bridesmaids.
