Prince Harry is remembering Queen Elizabeth II on the eve of the anniversary of her death.
The estranged Duke of Sussex, who turns 39 on Sept. 15, honored his late grandmother in London on Thursday at the WellChild Awards, an annual celebration for a charity benefitting seriously sick children and the professionals who help take care of them.
“As , I used to be unable to attend the awards last 12 months as my grandmother passed away,” the red-headed royal, who has supported the charity for greater than a decade, told the audience, per People.
“As you furthermore may probably know, she would have been the primary person to insist that I still come to be with you all as an alternative of going to her.”
He continued: “And that’s precisely why I do know, exactly one 12 months on, she is looking down on all of us tonight, completely satisfied we’re together continuing to highlight such an incredible community.”
The queen died on Sept. 8, 2022, on the age of 96.
Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, 42, were forced to cancel their appearance ultimately 12 months’s awards after doctors grew “concerned” over the queen’s health.
Harry quickly flew to Scotland, where the monarch died in Balmoral Castle.
This may very well be the primary and only public way Harry remembers his grandma, as a rep for the couple told People, “The Duke, the Duchess, and their family will privately acknowledge and honor the Queen on the anniversary of her passing.”
The Post has contacted reps for Harry and Markle for comment.
While Harry is within the UK, royal insider and “To Di For Day by day” podcast host Kinsey Schofield claims his brother, Prince William, 41, and sister-in-law Kate Middleton, 41, “haven’t any desire” to reconnect with him.
“There may be a severe lack of trust, and so they don’t want the conversation repeated to anyone,” Schofield recently told Fox News.
“I think that Prince William is dreading Prince Harry’s arrival,” she went on. “Especially when William and [Kate] are expected to publicly acknowledge the anniversary of the late queen’s passing.”
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge can be visiting St. David’s Cathedral in South Wales on Friday to host a memorial for the queen.
Harry and Markle were reportedly not invited to the event.
The 2 couples have been estranged for years, especially since Harry and Markle decamped to California in 2020 and Harry published his tell-all memoir, “Spare,” in January.
Markle was expected to affix Harry next week on the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf, Germany, however it’s unclear if that can occur.
