A person on Reddit revealed how he refreshed and renewed himself in a VIP lounge during an extended airport layover — but now he’s taking heat because he left his friends within the dust.
They usually’re seething mad.
“I’m traveling with five friends now,” wrote the person on the subreddit often known as AITA (“Am I the a–hole?”) “and we’re traveling low cost,” he continued.
“Nonetheless, we had one long layover in an airport with an ideal VIP lounge.”
He went on, “The thing about these lounges is that they’ve free food and liquor. And cozy chairs and shower facilities.”
So, he said he “told my friends what [it] was about and so they all said that they didn’t wish to waste money.”
The person, going by the username of “Ok_Fisherman5205,” then decided to go “to the lounge by myself.”
“I had some snacks. Just a few drinks. A fast nap. An extended, hot shower.”
There, he said, “I had some snacks. Just a few drinks. A fast nap. An extended, hot shower. After which I caught up with my friends on the gate.”
He said that when he met up along with his friends, “my phone was fully charged. I used to be bright-eyed and bushy tailed.”
The person was also “slightly drunk,” he admitted.
He added, “Once we began talking, they were [complaining] about the associated fee of the whole lot on the airport.”
Then they asked him why he “looked so pleased with myself.” So he told them the main points of “my stay within the lounge.”
This didn’t go over well.
“They’d actually spent more on food and drinks than I had.”
“Two of them got visibly indignant,” he said. “They said I used to be an a–hole for not telling [them] the whole lot [that was available] within the lounge.”
Said the traveler, “They’d actually spent more on food and drinks than I had. Plus I got to nap in a snug chair and have a shower.”
As the chums continued to pile on, the person said he told them that “lounges aren’t a secret and that the web exists.”
And “they might have looked up the identical information I did,” he added.
Nonetheless, due to rift along with his group of friends, he asked others if he was improper for “paying for a lounge at an airport during an extended layover?”
Fox News Digital reached out to a psychologist for insight into the behavior.
Meanwhile, nearly 7,000 people reacted to the post — with over 750 people dropping a comment to the unique poster.
‘Don’t gloat’
One commenter weighed in with a preferred “upvoted” reply.
“With an extended layover, lounges are a tremendous hack. Especially for those who want cocktails — airport cocktails could be like $30. Two cocktails and also you’ve paid to your lounge pass.”
Nonetheless, added this same commenter, “possibly don’t gloat concerning the great time you’ve had while you’re with individuals who had a rough time. Especially for those who’ve got to travel together. Keep the peace.”

Other responders also called out the traveler for his “smugness.”
One other commenter took a rather more nuanced — though critical — perspective.

And “your folks suck,” added this same person, “since you are usually not accountable for their selections and so they could have asked you what the lounge fee includes.”
Continued this commenter, “I’ve traveled with friends before and had the identical dilemma of them not wanting to spend the cash.”
Nonetheless, this person added, “I took the five minutes to elucidate what all was included — after which all of us enjoyed the lounge together.”
