Let’s hope the couple go the gap — because she sure did.
A girl has documented the heart-stopping moment she turned up on the incorrect wedding — after flying over 3000 miles.
Arti Mala had flown in to Glasgow, Scotland, from Washington DC for her friend Gaurav’s big day — only to reach on the venue and never recognize anyone.
In a now-viral TikTok video, Mala panned across the venue, showing a sing that read: “Caitlin and Stephen. 12.08.2023. Thanks for sharing our big day with us.”
The founding father of First Seed Foods then shows the groom’s brother exclaiming: “You’ve come to Scotland from America and are available to the incorrect wedding.”
“It’s true, oh my gosh I’m on the incorrect wedding.” Mala laughs.
“My wedding and her wedding (he points on the bride),” the groom adds.
Luckily, the venues were only a mile away from one another, with Mala capable of call an Uber to get to her actual friend’s wedding.
Although she missed the ceremony and speeches, she made it in time for the reception.
Ina follow-up video, Mala explained how mistakenly went to the incorrect venue, saying she was running late and sprinted into the venue without checking.
“Immediately nobody looked familiar, which is okay because I’m coming from out of town,” she recalled in a follow-up TikTok.
“I didn’t know a whole lot of the marriage guests but then I saw the large board that said “congratulations Caitlin and Stephen” and I though oh I need to just be on the incorrect entrance. Perhaps it’s a giant constructing and it’s hosting multiple events,” she recalled.
Nonetheless, it soon dawned on her she was within the incorrect place.
“So I’m at the doorway trying desperately to call one other Uber, not getting any luck,” Mala continued, saying it was then the groom and his brother walked out.
“They said “hey we made the identical mistake this morning. We went to Pollockshaws as an alternative of Pollockshields, but they’re actually pretty close and the names are only so similar,’” she said.
The bride even got here out and invited her in for a drink while she was waiting for a ride to her actual event, but as she was eager to get to her friend’s ceremony she left as quickly as she could.
“I finally did get an Uber and sprinted inside but by then that entrance was over, all the wedding speeches were over, appetizers were well under way and I had missed all of it,” she said sadly. “However the bride and groom were super chilled.”
Mala admitted she feels extra guilty as she was meant to be capturing some specials moments between the British, Punjabi and Scottish families, but said her friends were just glad she made it.
“They were just joyful I made it and it was one of the vital fun and thoughtful weddings I’d ever been to,” she gushed.
“It was an insane begin to the day but a magical and memorable evening.”
