Female and nonbinary skiers will get the possibility to zip naked down a Colorado mountain as a part of a festival its organizer describes as “full-frontal freedom” — and no, there won’t be any men sneaking glances at any unclothed ski bums.
Boot Tan Festival is gearing up for its fourth 12 months of inviting women to hit the slopes fully nude for an after-hours ski run at Sunlight Mountain Resort in Glenwood Springs on March 29-30.
Founder Jenny Verrochi, 33, said the event began “unintentionally” to create a “secure place” amongst female skiers that may allow “women to be free” in a non-public place.
This 12 months, she has opened up the festival to femme-presenting nonbinary individuals as well, she told The Post Thursday.
Verrochi also said her before everything priority is to “protect the ladies.”
When asked if she feared men might attempt to sneak in under the disguise of nonbinary — as seen at a women’s tech job fair — Verrochi isn’t anxious.
“We never had a difficulty with men or men-identifying.”
As for ladies who could also be weary, they don’t need to take their clothes, but Verrochi — who also participates within the event — said they won’t need to by the tip of the event.
“There’s not a single person with clothes on by the tip of the day,” she revealed.
She described the experience as “collective joy” and said a lot of the women be at liberty to strip to their birthday suits because they’re amongst like-minded people and no prying eyes are around.
The ladies can be clothed going up the ski lift and fully dressed before re-entering Sunlight Mountain Resort’s facilities.
As well as, only female staff can be on the mountain when the ladies and femmes zip down — and male employees could have their phones revoked for security reasons, Verrochi told The Post in a phone interview.
The literal ski bums can be met with their belongings at the underside of the mountain.
Participants could have to examine into the event and further security can be around to maintain the ladies and femmes secure, Verrochi said.
As well as, the slope the ladies will use after hours is private with no other intersecting trails, leaving zero space for a sneaky man to attempt to take a peak, she said.
The resort can be open to everyone — including men — in the course of the day, but after its 3 p.m. closing time, only those with a Boot Tan Festival ticket can be allowed to remain and shred.
Throughout the day, women-owned vendors can be spotlighted in a merchant village and festivities include a comedy show, live music, and a tailgate party.
Every 12 months, Verrochi hopes the ladies discover a “newfound love for his or her bodies” and walk away with “friendships” and latest experiences.
“It’s been wonderful [hosting the event],” the Carbondale native told The Post of the “liberating” event. “We call it full-frontal freedom.”
“I’m so lucky that is my job.”
The event began in 2021 with only 27 backcountry skiers before growing to 200 in its second 12 months and 350 in its third.
This 12 months, an expected 1,500 women and female-identifying beginner to expert skiers will strip down for the fun run at Sunlight Mountain, roughly 160 miles outside Denver.
The March 29 event cost $169 for sooner or later of skiing and $200 for 2 days. There may be also a tailgate-only ticket that costs $100.
It’s also the primary 12 months the event will happen at Sunlight Mountain, which has a ski lift, leaving it open to beginners. The event’s previous location, Bluebird Backcountry, shut down, however the Carbondale native still desired to keep it near home.
