The United Kingdom crushed its record for highest temperature ever recorded Tuesday, melting a portion of the tarmac at London Luton Airport.

A scorching heat wave broiled much of mainland Europe, leading to hundreds of heat-related deaths and fierce wildfires. Tuesday’s highs will be “unprecedented,” said Met Office forecaster Rachel Ayers, adding temperatures would rise to as high as 104 or 105.8 F in parts of England in the afternoon.
The Meteorological Office, U.K.’s weather office, announced a temperature of 40.2 Celsius (104.4 Fahrenheit) was provisionally recorded Tuesday in London. A temperature of 39.1 C (102.4 F) was provisionally recorded earlier in the day in the English village of Charlwood in Surrey.

Climate change exists
Ha! Try 116 like we had in the Pac NW last year… Omgggggg the airport! The plants!!! 😱
All the climate change deniers will tell you it's just summer and get over it.
UK, help Kazakhstan to get rid of the lie and corruption! Mr Nazarbayev is not still controlling the biggest assets and a lot of them were relocated into your country. His son in law Kulibayev together with his lover Goga Ashkenazi are strong enough to steal the money from the local
economy for their own benefits. The financial legislation of UK is letting them use the stolen money and spend it over there. The offshore companies owned by Ms Ashkenazi are doing a lot of illegal transactions on clear the money of Kazakh people.
Summer in the northern hemisphere. Weird. And taking an ambient temp around a large patch of concrete/tarmac creates what might be called a unique environment. Just sayin
It’s 113 degrees at my house right now @ 6:00pm CDT……….OKC OKla…. USA
Lmao, what kinda asphalt do they use in Britain?
105? Lol…
Im in Arizona, 104 doesnt seem so bad,
Good. Let the Rothschild seat of power and evil treacherous SATANIC corruption burn in the heat.
Woh crazy heat wave 🔥👋🏻
Why doesn’t Airport Runways melt in Texas and the Middle East????? What’s up England?
It’s normal in India 🇮🇳
Look at all the green ass grass at that humongous airport that doesn't even need to be green
Okay people so if the tarmac is melting they're using the wrong kind of asphalt blend for an airport because it's 110 all day every day in California for like 4 months in the summer so there's a problem here with their tarmac companies not with the temperature of the Sun
Yo the tarmac is the name of the gliding steps, not the runway.
I worked with tar, in the past, some don't delt till 350°f or more, some obviously melt at 100°f. So TX,AZ,NM HELL GA. has seen Temps over 100° . It's normal . Every summer so what up with this, inferior tar ? BAD engineering? Contractor cuts?
this is a rubber liner from all the landing previously not a the runway concrete tarmac itself
God is punishing the evil dowas
OK a quick explanation:
1. The UK is not one of the warmest countries. Its more cold than anything and expect bad weather which is foggy, rain etc.
2. We are not used to 40°+ weather here in the UK. Buildings are built to keep in heat not out so when it gets hot we are literally boiling because it's built to keep the heat in.
3. We are further form the Equator so srop comparing saying "Ok here in like (insert a country with a high avg temperature) it hits (insert avg temp)" Because its not a good excuse.
Why is it a square size piece and why are those people just walking around like it’s nothing? I don’t see the runway melted. I see a square of runway that needs to be redone. Why is it only this small piece and not the whole thing?
Every day in India in summer the temprature in afternoon is always 37°C or above it
