The driving force involved in a collision that killed Treat Williams in June was cited for “grossly negligent operation with death” Tuesday because the “Everwood” actor’s reason behind death was revealed by Vermont police.
Williams, 71, was driving a motorbike on Vermont Route 30 in Dorset when Ryan Koss, 35, become his path, causing the actor to strike his SUV and be tossed off his bike, based on a police report.
Koss was attempting to show left right into a parking zone in his 2008 Honda Element when he crossed directly in front of the Hollywood star driving a 1986 Honda VT700c motorcycle.
“Williams was unable to avoid a collision and was thrown from his motorcycle,” Vermont State Police said within the report.
Williams, who was wearing a helmet, was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Latest York, but couldn’t be saved.
The Latest York Medical Examiner determined that the actor’s reason behind death was severe trauma and blood loss in consequence of the crash, Vermont State Police said.
Bennington County State’s Attorney Erica Marthage requested Vermont State Police issue the citation against Koss, of Dorset, on Tuesday.
Police contacted Koss and he voluntarily met troopers on the Shaftsbury Barracks, where was processed on the charge, photographed and released.
Koss — who was not injured within the crash — is scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 25.
Williams first became known for enjoying the a part of George Berger within the 1979 film “Hair” and was nominated for a Gold Globe award for the performance.
He also received two Sag Award nominations for his role as Dr. Andrew Brown within the WB television series “Everwood.”
