Tom Cruise allegedly feels the necessity, the necessity — to remain far-off from his ex-wife, Nicole Kidman.
The 60-year-old “Top Gun: Maverick” actor was noticeably absent from the 2023 Oscars on Sunday, despite the movie being nominated for six awards.
He reportedly was MIA because he desired to avoid an “awkward run-in” with Kidman, 55, whom he divorced greater than 20 years ago.
“Tom was not there because she was there, and he didn’t need a run-in,” a source reportedly told the Day by day Mail on Monday.
But insiders near Cruise allegedly told the outlet that his absence was “not personal” and as an alternative the results of scheduling issues.
The Post has contacted representatives for Cruise and Kidman for comment.
The prolific duo married on Dec. 24, 1990, and adopted two children — Isabella, now 29, and Connor, now 27, who’re each reportedly members of the Church of Scientology, like their dad, Cruise.
Cruise filed for divorce in February 2001, citing “irreconcilable difference” after allegedly walking out on Kidman that very same 12 months.
The move left the “Big Little Lies” actress in utter “shock” as fans suspected that the wedding got here to an end as a result of her refusal to grow to be a Scientologist.
“She knows why, and I do know why, [we divorced]” Cruise told Vanity Fair in 2013, vowing to maintain the reasoning private. “She’s the mother of my children, and I wish her well. And I believe that you simply just move on.
“And I don’t say that flippantly. I don’t say that with anything,” he continued. “Things occur in life, and also you do all the things you possibly can, and in every possible way, and there’s some extent at which you only sometimes should face the brutal reality.”
“I used to be young. I believe I offered it up?” Kidman told Harper’s Bazaar in October 2021 concerning the continued public interest in her marriage to Cruise.
“Possibly I’ve gotten a bit more trepidatious, but I’m all the time attempting to be as open as possible. I just prefer to live on the planet that way,” she added.
Cruise married fellow actress Katie Holmes, 44, on Nov. 18, 2006.
The pair had a daughter, Suri, now 16, and divorced in August 2012
Meanwhile, Kidman and her husband of 16 years, country musician Keith Urban, 55, heated up the Oscars Champagne-colored carpet with spicy hot PDA.
The couple has two daughters: Sunday Rose, 14, and Faith Margaret, 12.
