TikTok sensation Britney Joy has been identified as a victim in a automobile crash that also killed her mother while the pair was traveling to a Juneteenth celebration in Texas.
The 35-year-old, whose real name was Britney Murphy, had just left her sister Tiffany Smith Cofield’s home along with her mother 60-year-old Sherie Smith when the horror crash took place, ABC13 reports.
“There won’t ever be a time after I won’t miss my mother and my sister. They were my best friends. They were the whole lot,” Cofield told the outlet.
“It looked like her automobile and everybody, after I was walking up, said a mom and daughter died and I knew they’d left and knew the one mom and daughter could be my mom and sister.’
Houston police said the social media sensation was behind the wheel when a truck hit the vehicle she and her mother were traveling in.
An investigation continues to be ongoing, in response to ABC13.
Murphy, who found social media fame by posting comedy skits and vlogs, shared a chilling final TikTok video on the morning of her death.
“POV: YOU FORGOT ITS JUNETEENTH. NO WORK TODAY!” she captioned the clip, during which she is seen getting away from bed and realizing she has a break day.
Britney’s TikTok account saw her go from 4,000 followers to a whopping 400,000 within the space of 4 months.
“I used to be so pleased with her,” her sister told the outlet.
Britney’s tragic death comes just days after one other popular TikTok star, Carl Eiswerth, was killed in a automobile crash on June 13.
He was 35.
His mother, Janet, told TMZ that Eiswerth, sitting within the passenger seat, was driving in a automobile with a friend when their automobile was struck by one other vehicle in an intersection.
Prior to his death, the content creator had racked up a following of nearly 500,000 on TikTok, where he often posted humorous clips of himself in addition to dancing videos.
