A Texas man was arrested last week after employees at a Whataburger reported to police that he was within the fast food restaurant with a juvenile, and the situation didn’t seem right, in accordance with police.
In a Facebook post on Friday, the Texarkana Texas Police Department posted that it received a 911 call from employees at a Whataburger restaurant on Recent Boston Road just before noon on Tuesday.
“They told us that a juvenile girl and an older man were there eating together and something didn’t seem right concerning the situation,” the post read. “As we began attempting to work out what was happening, it became increasingly obvious that their instincts were spot on.”
An investigation revealed that the person, identified as 79-year-old Michael Clark, and the 13-year-old girl “barely” knew one another.
Police said the 13-year-old girl said Clark offered her money in exchange for sexual favors earlier that day and touched her inappropriately during a previous encounter just weeks prior.
On Tuesday, police added, the girl was walking down the road when Clark picked her up and took her to Whataburger.
Representatives for the fast food chain didn’t immediately reply to inquiries regarding the matter.
After investigating the situation further, detectives obtained a warrant for Clark and arrested him on Wednesday on charges of indecency with a toddler and solicitation of prostitution.
He’s currently being held on $225,000 bond.
