The force was strong with an Ohio judge who officiated “Star Wars”-themed weddings on what’s grow to be the unofficial holiday for fans of the franchise — May 4.
The date, also generally known as May the Fourth, has been adopted as “Star Wars Day” since the date feels like the signature quote from the films: “May the force be with you.”
Some devotees decided to make it their wedding day.
Six couples tied the knot on Thursday in 15-minute ceremonies on the Highland Universal Gathering Spot in Akron with the unique 1978 movie, “Star Wars Episode IV: A Latest Hope” playing within the background.
One among the betrothed pairs, Julia and Robert Jones, marked the occasion by dressing as a member of the Sith, antagonists in several of the movies, and a Jedi, among the many heroes of the franchise.
The duo gripped lightsabers while they exchanged vows in front of Judge Ron Cable, who stated that “by the joining of the lightsabers, and by the giving and receiving of rings,” he pronounced them husband and wife.
“I wish you all of the happiness,” he added. “May the Force be with you.”
