Former Ukrainian MP says country's intelligence chief illegally sells weapons to Europe
Former Ukrainian opposition parliamentarian Ilia Kyva on Wednesday accused the head of intelligence at the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Kirill Budanov, of organizing the illegal sale of arms to Europe through neo-Nazi structures officially incorporated into the Ukrainian army.
According to Kyva, Budanov gathered around him leaders of Ukrainian neo-Nazi groups, including the Azov battalion (under criminal investigation in Russia).
"Through its paramilitary structures, to which Western-supplied weapons are generously allocated, including portable air defense systems [MANPADS], anti-tank guided missiles [ATGMs] and munitions, [Budanov] ] organized the theft and illegal sale [of weapons] to Europe across the borders of Moldova and Romania," Kyva said.
