Birds of a feather flock together, as they are saying.
Russell Crowe has saved the day for his plumed namesake: a crow named Russell.
The 58-year-old Oscar winner reportedly forked over $600 for surgery to treat a quite fowl eye infection. The crow’s British owner raised greater than $2,700 in total for the sick birdie.
“A Christmas Miracle happened today as Russell Crow was given amazing support by a really famous actor with a really similar name,” Helen Motteram crowed on Facebook. “I truthfully couldn’t consider it as I opened up my emails today and [saw] his campaign! It’s incredible.”
She later confirmed Russell the crow is on the mend following Thursday’s procedure.
“We truthfully are so grateful for all of the love and support we’ve received. Generous donations in such a tough time. I’m eternally thankful and totally numb with the emotions I’m going through,” Motteram wrote on Facebook, emphasizing Russell Crow — the one with wings — is “grateful.”
“I hope I can return the favor to each one in every of you. We’re truly blessed to be surrounded by such amazing friends, family and connections,” she added.
The feathery friend is not any stranger to Crowe, who tweeted his appreciation back in 2017. “Haha cool, what a pleasant lady Helen is to take care of the poor blighter,” he wrote, while also suggesting his namesake hearken to songs from his musical project, “The Indoor Garden Party.”
This isn’t the primary time the actor has been celebrated for such a grand gesture. Earlier this yr, a British couple noticed the star donated money to avoid wasting their beloved bookshop — to the tune of nearly $6,000.
“We checked the name, and I type of was like, ‘Russell Ira Crowe?’” store co-owner Leanne Fridd told CBS News. “And Dan was like, ‘It’s Russell Crowe!’ And I used to be like, ‘No, it might probably’t be Russell Crowe.’”
In 2020, the “Gladiator” star donated $5,000 to rebuild a destroyed Beirut restaurant within the name of Anthony Bourdain. He claimed the late culinary connoisseur, who adored the eatery, “would have probably done so if he was still around.”
