IRVINE, Calif. (AP) — Electric truck and SUV maker Rivian Automotive said Friday it’s recalling just about all the vehicles it has delivered to customers with the intention to tighten a loose fastener that would potentially affect drivers’ ability to steer.
The corporate, which was founded in 2009, said it’s recalling about 13,000 vehicles because a fastener connecting the vehicles’ front upper-control arm and steering knuckle is probably not torqued enough.
There have been seven reports potentially related to the problem, but no injuries have been reported, Rivian said.
“For those who experience excessive noise, vibration or harshness from the front suspension, or a change in steering performance or feel, it is best to call immediately,” Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe wrote in a letter to vehicle owners.
The corporate based in Irvine, California, said the fix would only take a couple of minutes, and it expects to have finished the repairs on all of them in about 30 days, with customer collaboration.

Rivian is aiming to reap the benefits of a growing appetite amongst consumers and investors for electric vehicles. It’s amongst an extended line of corporations, each recent and old, attempting to peel away market share from Tesla.
It went public last 12 months, and its market value quickly soared past that of Ford and General Motors to develop into the second-most beneficial U.S. automaker behind Tesla. But that isn’t any longer the case: The corporate’s stock is down 67% up to now this 12 months.
Last month, Rivian said it was partnering with Mercedes-Benz to construct a factory in Europe that can produce electric vans for each corporations.
