The Meatpacking area’s prettiest latest project, and maybe its most costly office space, will soon emerge from behind scaffolding on the busy crossroads corner of Ninth Avenue and West 14th Street.
Development firm Tavros, headed by Dov Barnett and Nicholas Silvers, are wrapping up work on 50 Ninth — a set of landmarked, nineteenth Century townhouses round the corner to the Old Homestead Steakhouse.
The job entailed replacing the damaged facades with original brick and vintage brick from across the US on each the Ninth Avenue and 14th Street sides, which will probably be used for retail.
The project also features a latest, BKSK-designed, 57,000 square-foot, nine-story, glass-wrapped boutique office constructing set behind the townhouses.
The fifth floor has already been leased to Sole Source Capital, a Dallas-based private equity firm.
The asking rent on the 6,000 square-foot floor was $180 per square foot, believed to be the very best in the realm.

A deal can be rumored to be within the works for a luxury auto brand on a unique floor where the “ask” is a record-setting $215.
JLL’s Clark Finney, Howard Hersch, Robin Olinyk and Macy Parana represented Tavros on the Sole Source lease.
Tavros acquired the corner property in 2014.
The team can be behind The Dime, a large-scale, mixed-use project in Williamsburg.
