“Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of all of them?”
Disney has debuted a first-look image of actress Rachel Zegler within the titular role for it’s live motion reimagining of “Snow White.”
The studio also announced that the discharge date for the film could be pushed back from March 22, 2024 to March 21, 2025, consequently of the continued SAG-AFTRA strike.
Within the photo, the 22-year-old “West Side Story” actress is surrounded by her animated male companions, Dopey, Grumpy, Sneezy, Bashful, Glad, Sleepy and Doc.
Disney described the seven fellas as “magical creatures,” to not be confused with dwarfs, very early within the film’s production after it had been criticized by “Game of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage.
“Take a step back and have a look at what you’re doing there,” the actor said during an interview on Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast. “It is senseless to me. You’re progressive in a method, but then you definitely’re still making that f–king backward story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together. What the f–k are you doing, man? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I suppose I’m not loud enough.”
In 1937, the unique animated film, which was based on a nineteenth century fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm, helped launch the hand-drawn animation Disney would change into known for.
The movie, which launched the primary Disney princess, will feature latest songs from The Biggest Showman’s Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Directed by Marc Webb, “Snow White” will even co-star Gal Gadot because the Evil Queen.
Last July, Zegler shared on X (formerly often known as Twitter) that “the love this film has brought me is magical” and she or he hopes to bring a contemporary touch to her character.
“We did a very deep dive into fixing and making a contemporary woman out of Snow White,” she told People. “Most of my character doesn’t work for today’s audience, I’ll just say it.
