A royal expert has claimed that the late Princess Diana would have been the “only person” who could have helped mend fences between Prince Harry, 38, and his brother, Prince William, 41.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond claimed that the 2 sons “meant the world” to the princess, who tragically died after a 1997 high-speed automotive crash in Paris.
“Diana was a completely devoted mother and her sons meant the world to her,” Bond told OK! Magazine UK on what would have been the princess’ birthday, July 1, per the Every day Mail.
“I’m sure her biggest wish can be to hug her boys again and find a way of resolving the rift between them,” Bond continued. “If anyone could sort things out, it might have been Diana.”
The Post reached out to representatives for Kensington Palace and Prince Harry for comment.
The royal expert also told the outlet more about Diana’s parenting style, detailing that she gave the boys a whole lot of “love and cuddles” — a difference in the way in which that she grew up.
Over the past few years, it’s no secret that things have been moderately tense between Prince Harry and his brother, especially following the discharge of Harry’s tell-all memoir in January, “Spare.”
Within the book, he alleged that his brother had “attacked” him in November 2019, claiming that William desired to speak with him concerning the “whole rolling catastrophe” of their relationship and struggles with the press, which the older sibling reportedly blamed on Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle.
“He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the ground,” Prince Harry alleged in his autobiography.
“I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me,” he continued. “I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”
Two months later, in January 2020, the couple announced that they were taking a step back from their roles as senior royals.
The 38-year-old also claimed within the bombshell page-turner that he was bred to supply spare parts to his brother and that William pointed his finger in Markle’s face after she got into an alleged spat with future sister-in-law Kate before the couple’s May 2018 wedding.
He even branded his brother as his “arch nemesis” within the memoir.
There also gave the impression to be some strain on royal relationships after the couple’s March 2021 sit-down interview with Oprah and their 2022 Netflix doc, “Harry and Meghan.“
Shortly after the discharge of Prince Harry’s memoir, one source told People that Prince William needed “time to calm down” about all of it.
“William is the one who’s most upset and desires time to calm down,” an insider near the royal household claimed on the time.
“He has been painted as hot-headed and unsympathetic,” the source continued. “But I don’t think he’ll back down — it’s whether or not they can move beyond it and accept that they view things in a different way.”
Nonetheless, the 2 did reunite in September 2022 for a royal walkabout with their wives after Queen Elizabeth II’s death — however it was a united front that reportedly “required prolonged negotiations.”
The 2 brothers crossed paths again this past May in honor of their father, King Charles’ historic coronation ceremony, which took place at Westminster Abbey.
Prince Harry sat within the third row, while Prince William played an even bigger role within the day.
The 38-year-old only spent about 24 hours within the country, though, as he rushed back home to Montecito, California, in time for his son Archie’s fourth birthday.
But despite all the awkwardness, Every day Express royal reporter and expert Richard Palmer recently claimed that King Charles is “keen” to heal the rift between his sons.
“I’m sure the King would welcome them back,” Palmer alleged during a June episode of the Every day Express’ Royal Round Up.
“I mean… he’s quite keen to heal that family rift,” he continued. “But, you already know, it’s obviously very raw for the time being and it’s very noticeable. While I’d say he’s keen to heal that rift, he hasn’t met his son the last two times he’s been over to the UK.”
