She wanted some crown jewels – not a pair of binoculars.
In a recently resurfaced podcast interview, Prince William admitted to getting Middleton a present that she hated early on of their relationship – and its something she’ll never let him forget.
“I did get my wife a pair of binoculars once – she’s never let me forget that,” William said during a 2020 appearance on Peter Crouch’s podcast on BBC Radio Five Live.
“That was early on within the courtship that was — I feel that sealed the deal.”
The couple, who only recently celebrated their twelfth wedding anniversary, have been together since their college days at St. Andrews University in Scotland.
Nonetheless, since they’ve celebrated so many holidays together over time, it’s unclear what special day marked this pair of binoculars.
“It didn’t go well,” the Prince continued in regards to the failed present to Middleton.
And it looks like their relationship continues to be stronger than ever – last month, Prince William was overheard complimenting his wife during a visit to Birmingham, England.
“What an amazing outfit Kate has got on!” a fan told him as he greeted the gang. “It’s beautiful!”
“Oh she all the time looks stunning!” the Prince replied.
Last week, the pair celebrated yet one more milestone together, appearing at King Charles’ coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
The ceremony marked the official transfer of power to the 74-year-old after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, this past September at age 96.
She had reigned for 70 years on the time of her death.
Throughout the ceremony, each Prince William and his nine-year-old son, Prince George, played crucial roles within the day.
Prince William acted because the Stole Royal, which suggests that the one to present his father with the Robe Royal.
Prince George, who’s next in line after his father to take the throne, was a Page of Honour, ensuring that his grandfather didn’t trip over his robe on the ceremony.
He also carried a small sword throughout the ceremony to guard King Charles.
On Sunday’s coronation concert, a celebration that headlined performers like Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, Prince William made a heartfelt speech to his family, namely congratulating his father on the royal role.
“My father’s first words, on entering Westminster Abbey yesterday, were a pledge of service,” Prince William said to a crowd of 20,000 individuals who were gathered for the concert on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
“It was a pledge to proceed to serve, because for over 50 years, in every corner of the UK, across the Commonwealth, and around the globe, he has dedicated himself to serve others, each current and future generations, and people whose memory must not be neglected.”
Throughout the speech, he also paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.
“As my grandmother said, when she was crowned, coronations are a declaration of our hopes for the long run, and I do know she’s up there fondly maintaining a tally of us, and she or he’d be a really proud mother,” William said.
The ceremony also drew in relations from each near and much – including California-based Prince Harry, who has seemingly been at odds together with his father and brother in recent times, especially following the January release of his tell-all memoir, “Spare.”
Nonetheless, he only stayed in the UK for lower than 24 hours, making it home in time to have a good time his son, Archie’s fourth birthday.
His wife, Meghan Markle, didn’t join him on the events – as a substitute, she was spotted climbing in Montecito.
