Patty Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman 3” is the most recent Warner Bros. DC Studios project to be scrapped, in accordance with a recent report.
Sources allegedly told The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday that recent DC movies bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran, in addition to Warner Bros. Pictures bigshots, rejected Jenkins’ script, co-written with Geoff Johns, because it doesn’t match their recent — and developing — vision.
Jenkins directed and co-wrote “Wonder Woman” and “Wonder Woman 1984” starring Gal Gadot.
Insiders assured THR that costs aren’t a reason for the snub, regardless that the studio could save tens of hundreds of thousands by not moving forward with the third “Wonder Woman” installment.
These sources reportedly predicted Gadot’s paycheck would have been around $20 million, while Jenkins could have earned $12 million.
Interestingly, Gadot just tweeted her excitement for the since-abandoned film Tuesday.
“A number of years ago it was announced that I used to be going to play Wonder Woman. I’ve been so grateful for the chance to play such an incredible, iconic character and greater than anything I’m grateful for YOU. The fans. Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, the controversial release of “The Flash” starring the troubled Ezra Miller has been bumped up every week to June 16.
Gunn and Safran are reportedly ironing out DCU’s 10-year plan ahead of next week’s planned meeting with Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.
The Post has contacted reps for DC Movies and Gadot for comment.
