Having the whole lot, in every single place, all of sudden might just be an excessive amount of for him.
Oscar-winning actor Ke Huy Quan has admitted that despite his prestigious honor just days ago, he continues to be “frightened” about what’s to are available his acting profession.
On Sunday, Quan, 51, took home the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Waymond Wang in “Every little thing In every single place All at Once” — his first major role in 30 years.
“Every little thing continues to be so fresh in my mind,” he told Variety in an interview published Wednesday. “And that’s why moving forward I’m still really scared.
“Though I just won an Oscar, I’m still really scared of what tomorrow brings,” he shared.
Quan, an immigrant from Vietnam, had his first acting role within the Harrison Ford-starring movie “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” when he was just 12 years old. The following summer, he played Data within the movie “The Goonies” — but that was it.
Until now.
“I had a conversation with my agent, and I said, ‘I’m so frightened that this is barely a one-time thing,’” Quan told Variety about his recent successes.
“I’ve been down this road before, and I’m so afraid that history goes to repeat itself,” he added. “I said, ‘Please, whatever you do, please ensure that that doesn’t occur.’”
After Quan had trouble finding acting roles earlier in his profession, he segued into film production.
During his acceptance speech on the Oscars, he was overcome with emotion and sobbed onstage.
He described his time in a refugee camp when he went to Hong Kong from Vietnam together with his father and five of Quan’s siblings, in accordance with The Guardian.
His mom and three other siblings, meanwhile, went to Malaysia, which was their second time trying to go away the country — this time successful — and so they all emigrated to america one 12 months later, in 1979.
“They are saying stories like this only occur in the flicks,” Quan said during his acceptance speech. “I cannot consider it is going on to me. That is the American dream.
Harrison Ford, who was Quan’s co-star within the “Indiana Jones” film, presented the award to him on the Oscars on Sunday.
The moment of them embracing one another went viral, as they’d done so within the movie years earlier.
Many individuals compared the 2 moments side-by-side.
“Every little thing In every single place All at Once” also took home the golden statuette for Best Picture.
Quan revealed to Variety that he has three upcoming projects slated for this 12 months, including the brand new Disney+ show “American Born Chinese” — featuring his “Every little thing In every single place” colleague and recent Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, premiering May 24 — and Season 2 of “Loki.”
He may also star within the upcoming science fiction film “The Electric State,” alongside “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown and “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor Chris Pratt.
