New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has ruled out becoming a republic in her term as Prime Minister, citing respect for the Queen.
Ms Ardern has previously said she believes New Zealand will become a republic in her lifetime, but made it clear it won’t be during her governance.
New Zealand will have a public holiday to commemorate the Queen’s passing on September 26, following one-off public holidays to be held by the UK and Australia.
A state memorial will be held on the same day.
