After the University of Michigan failed to reconsider the keynote speaker for their white coat ceremony, medical students walked out in protest.

Dr. Kristin Collier, an assistant professor of medicine, spoke at the Sunday white coat ceremony, an event in which new medical students are welcomed and given a lab coat. Before the ceremony, more than 340 incoming and current University of Michigan medical students signed a petition opposing Collier as the keynote speaker, according to The Michigan Daily.
The petition states: “This is not simply a disagreement on personal opinion; through our demand we are standing up in solidarity against groups who are trying to take away human rights and restrict medical care.”
Collier has shared her opinion about abortion publicly. “Holding on to a view of feminism where one fights for the rights of all women and girls, especially those who are most vulnerable. I can’t not lament the violence directed at my prenatal sisters in the act of abortion, done in the name of autonomy,” she shared on social media earlier this year.

Naturally they're going to walk out; prohibiting abortion cuts into billable services.
10 thousand veiws and 200 likes and only comments that's supports this kinda like they don't want you know how people really feel about this
yes!!!!!!! japan will retake the kurils sakhalin and vladivostok south korea will take north korea.
They should have kept on walking right out of the college if you're not adult enough to sit through a lecture you're not adult enough to be a doctor
As a ER physician I wouldn’t treat them due to there political beliefs. So if I did that. What will happen if someone comes into ER with different beliefs. They might walk away.?
Can bet money that every "young woman" that stood up and walked out was their local frat's cum dumpster. Which is why they are so triggered by pro lifers.
Baby killers are getting a platform!
What a bunch of immature babies. I teach medical students and residents. If they walked out on one of my lectures because of my personal beliefs, I would be shocked. They are not there to engage me on my personal beliefs, nor me on theirs. We are there to learn medicine. No two humans are going to agree on everything. There are simply too many issues in society – impossible for two humans to agree on them all. Surely, we can learn to discuss without argument or intolerance. I would hope that doctors would have a higher level of maturity and sophistication than this.
I'm gonna waste my time to get up in the morning, DRIVE to the graduation ceremony (whilst NEEDLESSLY contributing to global warming), put on the white gown, wait an hour or so with my family who flew from out of town (and also contributed to global waming — i.e airplane gasoline), and then I'm gonna walk out when the speaker (whom I disagree with) takes the podium. Yeah! What does that do for me, PERSONALLY and my future career? Nothing! It's futile — but, ohhhh soooo "revolutionary." 🤣😂 But, more importantly — I AM WALKING OUT CUS I'M LEAVING school w/ HUNDREDS OF THOUSAND$ student debt DOLLAR$ for a sub-par education that taught me to be sheep. 🤡🤡🤡🤣
Great job!
Bunch of cry baby murderers
I wonder how many of them actually know the speakers exact position and are not simply doing this because its trendy.
Because of the economic crisis and the rate of unemployment, now is the best time to invest and make money 💯
I didn't get it… The speaker was supporting anti abortion subject… And the students walked away.. so are the students supporting abortions?.. please explain..
Very Sad that a doctor/director Who is a woman thinks women dont own their own body and soul, not muched changed since…. , so our body belongs to others whom can make decisisions…. So in her eyes a womans body is…. Shame on you speaker! Everybody should have left the aula. 💅
Those that walked out expressed their disagreement with the university. They should have their acceptance revoked so they can find a career that more aligns with their ideals.
Sad…
When kids have more sense then experienced adults
Identify and rusticate all of the pro-abortionists.
Imagine going to a hospital and doctor treating you is a pro-abortionist witch…
99% of pregnant women who came to hospital for abortion are either those who had unplanned baby or those who broke up with a boyfriend/ or caught on cheating. Few of them are due to medical reason or the health of the mother on Risk, the doctor recommend them to go for abortion
I don't see the Reason why abortion should be legal when infact majority of those who seek are pregnant due to their stubborness, we have program that we educate people to have safe sex and protection to get rid of any disease like HIV or to get rid of pregnancy.
I will rather say abortion should be legal for a women who have preexisting disorder that increases risk during pregnancy and women that was raped/Sexually assaulted
hope the grow up between now and the time they complete residency.
Imagine how vocal this Doctor is about her anti abortion views that so many other doctors would put their reputations on national news. She must've been really annoying about her views.
The doctor didn’t even mention abortion in her speech, and the university told the students she wouldn’t be speaking on the subject ahead of time when they tried to get her replaced. Her speech was basically about not forgetting that a patient is a human, because treating them like a car that you’re the mechanic of leads to negative patient experiences and burnout. I hope all the students who walked out have their acceptance reevaluated because we don’t need more doctors who think what they know is best and don’t believe patients about strange symptoms. I also don’t want a doctor who will walk out mid-surgery in protest because the hospital decided the insurance plan will no longer cover birth control.
