Matthew McConaughey and wife, Camila Alves, revealed they’re allowing their son, Levi, to hitch social media for his fifteenth birthday, despite being “nervous” concerning the milestone.
“Blissful birthday Levi Alves McConaughey,” his father said in a joint Instagram post Friday with Alves, 41.
“Can you suspect it?” she said, turning to her husband. “Fifteen years young,” he answered, adding “Hey, buddy, your mom is a bit nervous today. Considered one of the gifts we’re providing you with, yes, we’re allowing you today to hitch the social media universe.”
“The Gentlemen” star, 53, revealed the couple had been discussing after they would give their blessing for him to get an account since he was 12 years old.
“All his friends have had it for a very long time,” Alves noted. “We’ve been holding up.”
McConaughey added, “He knows who he’s, and he knows where he’s going. I believe he can handle it. He’s got a fantastic story to inform and share.”
“I would like all y’all to know,” he said, turning to the camera, “you’re getting a really cool and respectful young man in Levi McConaughey, and I hope y’all can do your best to treat him the identical way.”
The “Dallas Buyers Club” actor concluded, “Levi, benefit from the adventure, having fun with telling your story, expressing yourself and what you set on the market and the exchange you get with people on the market.”
“Blissful birthday, go check him out,” they each said as Alves applauded.
Levi shared his first Instagram post inside the same hour and responded to his parents’ post within the comments, writing, “Mamma and Papai thanks!!”
“comfortable to be here,” the 15-year-old captioned his inaugural post, a video montage of him browsing, skiing, cliff diving, volunteering, hanging out along with his family and having other adventures that played over an audio clip from his dad’s character from “Dazed & Confused.”
“Let me let you know this,” McConaughey says as David Wooderson within the clip, “the older you do get, the more rules they’re going to attempt to get you to follow. You simply got to maintain livin’, man. L-I-V-I-N.”
His dad commented, “levi is l i v i n #happybirthday.”
Commenters praised McConaughey and Alves for having Levi wait until he was 15 to hitch social media.
