Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are on higher terms with their “Full House” co-stars after the siblings decided to not return to Netflix’s “Fuller House.”
The spinoff often cracked jokes concerning the Olsen twins, 37, and a lot of the solid implied they weren’t as close with them because the original show air wrapped. They ultimately retired from acting and founded The Row in 2006 and Elizabeth and James in 2007.
Nonetheless, John Stamos is now revealing that the Olsens frolicked with the solid following the death of their TV patriarch Bob Saget, who passed away at age 65 in January 2022.
“I like them dearly and so they’ve done so well. I’m so happy with them. When Bob passed away they got here. They usually were so kind,” Stamos, 60, said during a “Live with Kelly and Mark” appearance on Monday, while promoting his latest book, “If You Would Have Told Me: A Memoir.”
“, they were here and we were there. And we just weren’t so close over time due to distance and so they said all of the things we desired to hear. They said, ‘We loved our childhood, we love you guys. Thanks for those beautiful eight years,’” he continued. “It was really something that the remaining of us needed to listen to. It was very nice.”
In Stamos’ book, he did joke over again about how he tried to get Mary-Kate and Ashley fired once they were toddlers on set.
“The reality is it was like for an hour. They were crying through every scene … and I said get me another kids,” he told Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. “They usually brought these other two kids that were semi-attractive at best. And I used to be like, ‘Get the Olsens back, quick!’”
He added that it was a “protected” set for the Olsens, “apart from Bob and the dirty words” he often cracked.
In May, Stamos revealed he was initially “offended” with the ladies for not returning to the reboot to reprise their role as Michelle Tanner.
“[Bob] was very instrumental in keeping us all together,” Stamos began during an appearance on “Glee” stars Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz’s podcast, “And That’s What You REALLY Missed.”
“The twins moved to Recent York… And I gotta let you know, considered one of the one good thing to come back out of Bob’s, well … Mary-Kate and Ashley, we didn’t really see them much,” he continued. “I mean, we stayed in contact a bit bit but Bob really did. They usually were so great… You hear rumors, ‘Oh, they hated their childhood or they hated being on the show or whatever.’”
He added: “After I did Fuller House they didn’t wanna come back. And I used to be offended for a minute. And that got out.”
“Full House” also starred Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, David Coulier, Andrea Barber and Lori Loughlin.
Stamos’ “If You Would Have Told Me: A Memoir” hits bookshelves on Tuesday.
