The film killed it.
Martin Scorsese’s brand-new film “Killers of the Flower Moon” received a nine-minute standing ovation through the movie’s world premiere on the Cannes Film Festival Saturday.
Scorsese, 80, was joined on the screening by fellow solid members Leonardo DiCaprio, 48, Robert De Niro,79, and Lily Gladstone, 36, reports Deadline.
The nearly three and half hour film — which was adapted from David Grann’s book of the identical name — is about in Oklahoma through the Nineteen Twenties and depicts the serial murders of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, which was later dubbed the Reign of Terror and led to the formation of the FBI.
The Post reached out to Scorsese for comment.
“It’s taken its time to return around, but Apple did so great by us, shooting on the market … there was a lot of grass — I’m a Latest Yorker,” said the “Goodfellas” director in a post-film speech. “We also lived in that world with the Osage, we actually did, and we actually miss it.”
The “Wolf of Wall Street” director also thanked the gang saying ” “I don’t think I’ve ever experienced [anything] like this.”
One early review of the film called it “Leonard DiCaprio’s best performance yet.”
“The dignity and look after the Osage perspective was real and honest throughout the method and the Osage responded with the form of passion and enthusiasm that met this historic moment,” praised former Osage tribal leader Jim Gray.
“For those of us who were watching from the sidelines while our greatest and brightest amongst us auditioned, sewed, catered, painted, acted and advised the filmmakers, it’s going to be hard to not feel our presence in helping to inform.”
Scorsese’s film was not the one movie to make it into the headlines.
Harrison Ford’s digitally de-aged face made a long-awaited appearance through the world premiere of “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.”
Former “Pirates of the Caribbean” star Johnny Depp also made an appearance to advertise his brand-new film “Jeanne Du Barry” and received a seven-minute standing ovation as a consequence of his portrayal of King Louis XV.
In a press conference for the film, Depp slammed Tinseltown saying the industry “boycotted” him during his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.
“Killers of the Flower Moon” is about to have a limited release on Oct. 6, 2023 before being released nationwide on Oct. 20.
