His kiss was on her list.
Ryan Gosling’s Ken may play second fiddle in the brand new “Barbie” movie, but based on Margot Robbie, who plays the titular character in the summertime blockbuster, “The Notebook” heartthrob’s lips were the actual star of the film, which pulled down $22.3 million ahead of opening weekend — all with no single smooch between the 2 leads.
Robbie admitted to People in June that not having the ability to kiss Gosling on-screen “didn’t feel like a win to me.”
Robbie’s friends took the news even harder than her, having had high hopes from the beginning that the producer of the film could work some magic in her favor.
Robbie said, “All of my girlfriends were like, ‘Well you probably did an entire movie with him and also you don’t kiss? What’s fallacious with you? I assumed you were sort of in charge on this one!’”
She continued, “I used to be like, ‘I do know, I can’t check that one off [my list].’”
Gosling then again wasn’t disenchanted, saying he’s a fan of their characters awkwardly fumbling to work out romance.
“It was so funny attempting to work out what their idea of kissing could be,” he said throughout the joint interview with Robbie.
