Democrat Katie Hobbs will probably be the following governor of Arizona after she topped Republican Kari Lake, NBC News projected Monday night.
Hobbs, Arizona’s current secretary of state, edged out the victory over Lake, a former television news anchor and staunch ally of former President Donald Trump.
Hobbs garnered 50.4% of the votes solid within the razor thin race out of the roughly 2.5 million votes counted to date about every week after Election Day, in response to an NBC News tally.
Hobbs would replace outgoing Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, a Republican who has served since 2015.
