Justin Fields sure seems pleased amid all of the rumors.
Fields’ manager Mario Nunez posted an Instagram Story on Tuesday night showing Fields smiling from ear to ear, clapping his hands and jumping around, all while rumors swirl that the Bears are prepared to trade the quarterback and use their No. 1 pick on USC quarterback Caleb Williams.
Now, perhaps Fields is genuinely pleased about something that has nothing to do with the NFL.
Nonetheless, it’s actually an interesting tease to release this video hours after Bears general manager Ryan Poles said the team, should it trade Fields, would plan to accomplish that before free agency opens on March 13.
“If we go down that road, I would like to do right by Justin as well,” Poles said on the NFL Scouting Mix on Wednesday. “Nobody desires to live in grey. I do know that’s uncomfortable. I wouldn’t need to be in that situation, either. So, we are going to gather the knowledge. We are going to move as quickly as possible. We usually are not going to be in a rush, and see what presents itself and what’s best for the organization.”
Oddsmakers have already installed the Falcons as the favourite for Fields’ 2024 team, with Atlanta having -175 odds at DraftKings as of Tuesday morning.
The Bears had +175 odds, while the Steelers are at +300.
Recent Falcons head coach Raheem Morris actually stoked the fans by saying the Falcons need to get the “best fit for our city,” an interesting nugget since Fields is from Kennesaw, Ga.
“You desire to go get one of the best fit on your people, you should go get one of the best fit on your coaches, you should go get one of the best fit for our city, and you should do all those things,” Morris told CBS Sports‘ Jonathan Jones on Tuesday. “There’s nothing ruled out. I forgot to say trades, because all of those things come into play. … We’ve really been tedious, we’ve really been going through the technique of how we’re going to accumulate one of the best fit for us. … I do know you’re going to leap throughout this best fit for our city thing…”
When Jones asked in regards to the city line, Morris said it’s “actually essential.”
“Persons are going to read into those words or whatever – nevertheless they do those things,” Morris said. “You’ll be able to’t stop that. There are folks that are from Atlanta. There are people from around Atlanta. You’ll be able to name the milage of how close a few of those individuals are. You bought to do what’s best and what’s right on your team at the suitable time. We won’t rule out anything until we got to make those decisions at that date.”
