The Jets activated veteran tackle Duane Brown off of injured reserve on Thursday.
Brown began the primary two games of the season at left tackle before a hip injury landed him on injured reserve.
The 38-year-old began practicing three weeks ago, meaning the Jets either needed to activate him Thursday or he can be done for the season.
It was unclear how much Brown can play immediately.
He may be a backup until he gets more practice time.
The Jets could use his help.
They’re going to start their eighth different offensive line combination on Friday against the Dolphins.
Rookie Carter Warren could start at left tackle if Brown can’t with Mekhi Becton out with a sprained ankle.
The Jets also signed Xavier Newman to the energetic roster. He is predicted to begin at right guard.
They released Chris Glaser, who began last week, on Thursday.
Brown played 12 games last yr for the Jets after signing with them in August of 2022.
Brown missed the primary 4 games of last season with a torn rotator cuff. He declined to have surgery on the shoulder and played through the injury before missing the ultimate game of the yr.
Brown had surgery after the season and missed most of coaching camp as he was recovering from the injury. Brown struggled in the primary two games of this season and the Jets admitted he could have come back too soon from the injury.
The Jets also elevated OL Jake Hanson and DL Tanzel Smart from the practice squad for Friday’s game.
