Jay Leno has confirmed that he was burned in a gasoline fire in a recent statement regarding his health status.
The previous “Tonight Show” host, 72, told Variety on Monday, “I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I’m okay. Just need per week or two to get back on my feet.”
TMZ reported the news earlier Monday, stating that the vintage automobile collector was in his Los Angeles garage, where one in all his many automobiles suddenly burst into flames.
Sources told the outlet that the explosion severely burned the left side of Leno’s face, but didn’t seriously injure his eye or ear.
He was transported to the Grossman Burn Center in LA, in keeping with the report.
Concern for Leno began on Sunday night after he didn’t show as much as a scheduled appearance on the Financial Brand Forum 2022 in Las Vegas because of a “very serious medical emergency.”
“His family was not capable of provide us very many details, but there was a really serious medical emergency that’s stopping Jay from traveling,” read an email sent to the conference’s attendees, which People obtained on Monday.
“All we all know is that he’s alive, so our prayers exit to him and his family tonight.”
In June, US News & World Report said Leno’s automobile collection included over 180 vehicles, including exotic cars, hypercars and museum-grade artifacts.
It’s unclear how most of the cars were involved within the incident.
