The Denver Broncos could have just gotten their most definitive indication yet that running back Javonte Williams will likely be able to go come training camp.
The Broncos running back is getting back from a torn ACL and LCL in his right knee that he suffered during an Oct. 2 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders last season.
Williams said on Sunday that he expects to be cleared by the beginning of coaching camp and to be a component of some practices following team veterans reporting on July 25.
“I mean, that’s the plan. I feel like I’m able to go,” Williams told reporters, based on ESPN.
The Broncos had maintained that Williams can be able to go come training camp, and his words appeared to back up that confidence.
Williams has been practicing with a brace on the knee that underwent surgery and in addition said that he felt he had cleared the mental hurdles that include an injury like that.
Williams, 23, has been speaking with different Bronco players which have undergone similar injuries, including wide receiver Tim Patrick and linebacker Aaron Patrick.
“Just the mental part, being to find a way to maneuver like you’ve your whole life,” Williams said. “For the primary two months, you’re just sort of sitting in bed attempting to get it to bend all another time. That’s the toughest part. [But] that’s who I got to be, that’s who I’ve been my whole life. I don’t need to get back on the sphere playing scared or timid, so once I do get back on the market, I need to be 100%.”
Williams was a part of the NFL’s All-Rookie team in 2021 and had three touchdowns on 903 yards rushing in that first yr.
He had racked up 204 yards last season when he suffered the injury in Week 4.
