Their “California Love” was never meant to last.
Jada Pinkett Smith, 52, has been gushing over her late pal Tupac Shakur these days — but not in the way in which you would possibly expect.
The “Girls Trip” actress confessed to Rolling Loud’s Christal Jordan on Thursday that the 2 were “soulmates,” but in addition spoke in regards to the distinct lack of the vital spark between her and the “Dear Mama” rapper, who was murdered on Sept. 13, 1996.
“We now have soulmates — our kids will be our soulmates,” Pinkett Smith replied when asked if she would use the term to explain Pac — as he apparently previously described her. “There’s every kind of definitions of soulmate.”
Through the candid chat, the “Magic Mike” star admitted that the pair did have “those moments” of romance together, however it never felt right.
“I wish I could get people to grasp,” Pinkett Smith said of the duo’s nonexistent spark. “And I realize it’s so hard [to believe] however it wasn’t just me. It was him, too.”
“It was almost like God made us that way. It’s like, ‘Look, we’ll put y’all together, alright? Y’all gonna be a dynamic duo, but I’ll inform you right away: I’m gonna make it so that you’re not gonna have the opportunity to get together,’ because that just wasn’t the aim,” she explained.
Pinkett Smith, who’s on the road promoting her upcoming memoir “Worthy,” did admit with fun, “If there may be such a thing as past lives, I definitely think Pac and I actually have traveled a couple of together in various forms.”
Police recently charged Duane “Keefe D” Davis, a former confidante of the late rapper, with Shakur’s murder — nearly 20 years after a Las Vegas Strip shootout claimed Pac’s life.
The pair bonded while attending the Baltimore School for the Arts together. Pinkett Smith also appeared in his “Keep Ya Head Up” and “Temptations” music videos. She posted $100,000 bail when Shakur was convicted for sexual abuse in 1994.
Pinkett Smith and the “Hit ‘Em Up” rapper had a detailed friendship for a few years. She previously revealed that she met Pac when she was a drug dealer.
She also honored him on his birthday in 2021 with a never-before-seen poem.
Pinkett has been married to “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” star Will Smith for 19 years — but recently revealed the pair have been separated for the last seven, including during his infamous Oscars slap.
“Worthy” will likely be released on Oct. 17
