We go deep into the vast world of India’s scam call centers, meeting those behind the deception and the new breed of international scambaiters who are trying to bring these scammers down.

After seven years of running tech support scams, ‘Leo’ has leveled up. He is now an entrepreneur or a scam call center consultant who sets up scamming outfits for those with money to invest. From hiring to hardware, he has it down to a science, especially on how long it will take to generate returns for the investors.

At the other end of the spectrum, we follow an Indian scambaiter ‘Sven’ as he investigates a local company that’s running a scam call center. The majority of their victims are English-speaking foreigners overseas. Through reverse tracking, he has managed to get into the company’s systems, securing access to their confidential files and real-time CCTV footage of scams taking place.

Will ‘Sven’ be able to find enough evidence to submit to the police and conduct a crackdown?

I'm 12 minutes in and something is really bothering me. The guy driving earlier talked about "Making" enough money in one night for a month or even a year, and now the narrator said a company was "making" 100k a day. None of these people or businesses are "making" money, they're stealing it. It's theft. He can STEAL enough money in one night to last a month. The company STOLE 100k a day. Lets not talk about it as thought they're legitimate earnings.

That gets them! They do not know the country. I have gone head to head with these scammers. But found it goes much easier to let ur bank handle bad charges.

The west should nuke India out of existence, it would solve a LOT of problems.

I’ve had 3 scam calls about Amazon charges. The scammer tells me to go to my computer and type in … I tell them I would rather contact Amazon directly. I’ve had them try to talk me out of it or they will just hang up on me. I contact Amazon directly and there are no charges showing.

This is a epidemic needs talking about a lot more, you can't trust anything online anymore and that's not how the net should be, it affects many areas of finance, trade and technology

The Indian government clearly isn't interested in stopping the scamming. The only way to get their attention is for the government's of the victim countries to place sanctions on India until the scamming stops.

Something that no one tends to discuss here is the way the police treats those who actually complain and bring this to light. They shrug it off sarcastically as if its not a big issue. 42:39 If the police tries to, they could bring this million dollar industry down in weeks. But they won't. That's the most depressing part of this issue. No government ever will acknowledge this issue nor will they take steps to curtail this.

Unfortunately, this will lead to more racism in the US as people start associating scammers to Indian accents.

Somebody with an accent sounding like they're from India or Pakistan, I won't tell them anything. I hate companies that outsource customer service to that part of the world.

  23. Tarak Dhurjati says:

Look at the guts of "Leo" he says no one can catch them. 80% scam calls originating from India and getting a tag as leader in global scam industry is shameful. International scam baiting organizations, Law enforcement agencies, large MNCs for whom services are provided and also Saintly Hacker groups should destroy this industry completely. The consumers should also not fall into the trap in the first place.

Indians are so proud that they have a large number of software engineers. But the software engineers are the real brains behind these scams.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 LETS FACE IT…… THESE SCAMS ARE FOR STUPID PEOPLE OR THOSE WHO BLESS EM, ARENT SWITCHED ON. AGE IS NOT RELEVANT. IF YOU HAVE COMPUTER THEN SURELY YOU HAVE GOOGLE. JUST ASK A QUESTION.
    FOLLOW SIMPLE RULES:
*NEVER ANSWER CALL WITH NON NATIVE ACCENT. DOH!!! (I WATCHED SCAMS ON HERE WHERE INLAND REVENUE OFFICERS, ALL HAD INDIAN ACCENTS WITH NONE SPEAKING IN NATIVE ENGLISH ACCENT AND PEOPLE FELL FOR IT).
*ANY MESSAGE LEFT, GOOGLE AND CONTACT THE HEAD OFFICE OF WHATEVER DEPT, REGARDING ANY BILL ETC. .
*NO GOV /FEDERAL AGENT WILL THREATEN YOU OVER THE PHONE. THEY WILL PAY YOU A VISIT OR SEND YOU A REGISTERED LETTER.
NO COMPANY WILL CUT OFF YOUR SERVICES IMMEDIATELY. THEY MUST FIRST GIVE YOU IN WRITING.
    * AND NEVER GIVE REMOTE ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER TO ANYONE. GET A LOCAL TECHNICIAN FROM YELLOWPAGES.

I HAVE A RULE: ANY CALL WITH INDIAN ACCENT. CLICK… HANG UP.

as a professional hustler I know for a fact at some stage this scamming stuff will break down itsself. Yes. they made a ton of money now but its not a long term thing and sooner or later they will scam everything and then they will start scamming each other thus destabilising the entire thing. At the end of the day everyone judges India for it and anyone who sounds like it

  29. Balraj Singh says:

In malaysia, all the scam calls come from china, or Chinese nationals. Perhaps should do a report on that.

  30. David Renwick says:

All good business for India. You heard the young woman who wanted "a little extra money" for her birthday saying that there was nothing immoral about it and the "mark" agreed to the bogus service. Most jurisdictions call that "theft" or "deception." No surprise that I don't any longer engage with Indian people in anything involving them performing any type of service for me. Previously every transaction involved a dishonesty to some degree – no matter how trivial.
