This is certainly some feud for thought.
Rosie O’Donnell, 61, recently revealed her relationship status with fellow retired talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, 65 — and it’s complicated.
“She texted me a number of weeks ago checking in, seeing how I’m doing, and I asked her how she’s surviving not being on TV,” O’Donnell told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published Thursday.
“It’s an enormous transition. But we’ve had our weirdness in our relationship. I don’t know if it’s jealousy, competition or the incontrovertible fact that she said a mean thing about me once that basically hurt my feelings.”
She explained to the outlet that DeGeneres said the “mean thing” during an appearance on “Larry King Live.”
The Post reached out to reps for DeGeneres for comment.
O’Donnell says King asked DeGeneres, “Whatever happened to Rosie O’Donnell’s show? She went down the tubes as soon as she got here out.”
DeGeneres replied that she “didn’t know” O’Donnell, they usually “weren’t friends,” in line with O’Donnell’s account.
O’Donnell told THR she didn’t feel the identical way — and she or he claims DeGeneres recently texted her concerning the situation.
“She wrote, ‘I’m really sorry and I don’t do not forget that,’” O’Donnell alleged. “I suppose she saw me speak about it on Andy Cohen’s show. I remembered it so well, I had T-shirts printed, and I gave them to my staff that said, ‘I don’t know Rosie. We’re not friends.’”
She continued, “I even have an image of her holding [my then-infant son] Parker. I do know her mother. I could discover her brother without her within the room. I knew her for thus a few years. It just felt like I don’t trust this person to be in my world.”
She had mentioned the story while appearing on Andy Cohen’s late-night show, “Watch What Happens Live,” in September.
O’Donnell said when she and DeGeneres were coming up within the comedy world, that they had a very good, supportive relationship.
The previous “View” co-host even recalled DeGeneres’ 1996 appearance on her talk show, once they made jokes about being “Lebanese” because they each liked DJ Casey Kasem.
“The Rosie O’Donnell Show” aired from 1996 to 2002, and “The Rosie Show” from 2011 to 2012.
DeGeneres isn’t the one celeb who O’Donnell has fallen out with.
She recently spoke about her infamous 2007 tussle with conservative commentator Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
The 2 former co-hosts of “The View” got right into a 10-minute shouting match about their differing views on the Iraq war.
It quickly turned ugly and private.
“I do know this — it’s not the most effective use of my talent to get in a show where I even have to argue and defend basic principles of humanity and kindness,” O’Donnell said about “The View” during an April appearance on Brooke Shields’ podcast, “Now What? With Brooke Shields.”
“It was not something I’d ever do again,” she continued.
O’Donnell co-hosted “The View” from 2006–2007 and 2014–2015.
For her part, DeGeneres ended her talk show last 12 months after 19 seasons.
