Chris Hemsworth is taking his health more seriously ever since he learned he has a high risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
The Marvel actor, 40, got candid with Men’s Health in a latest profile where he revealed he made some major wellness and lifestyle changes to assist keep him in tip-top shape.
“I’ve all the time been pretty consistent with my exercise commitments,” he said.
“But currently I’ve really felt the importance of taking time for yourself with none outside voice or stimulation and making time for stillness,” the Australian native went on.
While Hemsworth is understood to be very into physical exertion, he has began to dip his toes into keeping his mind and soul stronger.
Sleeping more and taking ice baths regularly has also helped the “Thor” star stay lean.
The daddy of three continued: “My weight fluctuates rather a lot resulting from differing roles and in addition my very own interests with reference to difficult my body in other ways.”
“I’m lifting less regularly than I used to be and I’m incorporating more cardio and endurance workouts which I much prefer than heavy body-building style sessions,” Hemsworth explained.
He discovered that he has two copies of the gene APOE4 in his DNA and he’s more prone to develop the progressive disease later in life while filming his National Geographic series “Limitless” last 12 months.
The “Rush” star hinted to Vanity Fair last November that he’s going to take a step back — but shouldn’t be retiring — from acting to concentrate on his body and mindfulness.
He also discussed the “intensity [of] navigating” his Alzheimer’s test results and gave some deep thoughts about death.
“Most of us, we prefer to avoid speaking about death,” he shared. “Then to unexpectedly be told some big indicators are literally pointing to this because the route which goes to occur, the fact of it sinks in. Your individual mortality.”
“I feel like my memory’s getting worse,” he said on the time. “It’s a placebo effect — or it’s going down! It’s my excuse now.”
