Houston police confirmed that a person killed at a bowling alley shooting early Tuesday was rapper Takeoff of the Atlanta-based group Migos — as they put out a call for the general public to assist in identifying his killer.
Takeoff, whose real name is Kirsnick Khari Ball, was fatally shot at a personal party at 810 Billiards & Bowling in downtown Houston at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday.
Takeoff was one third of the Grammy-nominated group Migos alongside Quavo and Offset. Quavo, who’s Takeoff’s uncle, was also on the party when the shooting broke out but wasn’t injured.
Two other unidentified victims were treated in local hospitals, in response to cops.
Dozens of individuals had gathered on the surface balcony of the bowling alley on the third-floor of the constructing in a retail complex, in response to police.
There have been no arrests announced.
A body was loaded into the medical expert’s van greater than seven hours after the shooting, the Associated Press reported.
After news of the shooting broke but before police confirmed the identity of the victim, fans flocked to the retail center in mourning.
“He was certainly one of our favorites, mine and my brother’s,” said Isiah Lopez, who got here from the Houston suburb of Humble to put roses near the location of the shooting. “As soon as my brother called me and said, ‘Takeoff is gone,’ I had to come back over here and pay my respects.”
Atlanta-based Migos began in 2008 and released songs like “Versace” and “Bad and Boujee” but apparently split up with Offset, who’s married to Cardi B. Takeoff and Quavo continued as a duo sometimes going as Unc & Phew, and released a music video for his or her song “Messy” last month.
