“Food plan” water, melted ice cream, blowfish and a guest’s fish catch cooked to order are just a few of the bizarre room service requests in Hotels.com’s inaugural Room Service Report released Tuesday.
Other bizarre asks include an egg-free shakshuka (an egg-heavy dish); a no-egg-white omelet; cockle popcorn; a rice bowl for a dog; and bison.
Nearly 500 hotels all over the world were surveyed in April, with the poll finding the demand for room service is on the rise at 45% of participating US hotels.
The report also highlights a few of the most original room service offerings.
Should you need a burger that costs nearly thrice the worth of your room, head to the Post Oak Hotel in Houston for the Black Gold Burger.
The $1,600 nosh consists of 16 ounces of Wagyu beef, seared foie gras and black truffle on a brioche bun infused with caviar and coated in pure gold. Rooms go for a mere $540 per night.
Park Lane Recent York, meanwhile, offers on-demand caviar via the Central Park South hotel‘s caviar hotline.
Also in Manhattan, the famed Plaza Hotel sells the “Home Alone” sundae, featuring 16 scoops of ice cream and layers of toppings, for $300. Rooms start at $761 per night.
The Plaza has been a filming location for movies equivalent to “Home Alone 2,” “The Great Gatsby” and “The Way We Were.”
