Shares within the Asia-Pacific traded mostly lower as markets within the U.S. were closed for the Thanksgiving holiday and can end its session early on Friday.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index led losses within the region and traded 1% lower, with the Hang Seng Tech index losing greater than 2%. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite gained 0.5% and the Shenzhen Component traded 0.2% lower.
China’s reported Covid cases continued to rise Thursday. Zhengzhou, where protests took place at Apple supplier Foxconn‘s iPhone factory, said it will conduct mass testing.
In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 in Australia rose 0.15%, while the Nikkei 225 fell 0.15% and the Topix was flat. In South Korea, the Kospi fell 0.1%.
Stocks in Malaysia closed greater than 4% higher, with the benchmark index reaching its highest levels in greater than two months after Anwar Ibrahim was sworn in because the nation’s tenth prime minister.
