Six crew members on the Morocco set of Paramount Pictures’ “Gladiator 2” suffered burn injuries after a stunt went improper Wednesday.
“While filming a planned stunt sequence on the set of the ‘Gladiator’ sequel, an accident occurred during which several crew members experienced non-life-threatening injuries,” a Paramount spokesperson told Variety on Friday.
The outlet reported that 4 of the six were within the hospital in stable condition as of Friday.
Two others were treated locally and discharged.
“The protection and full medical services teams on-site were capable of act quickly in order that those that were impacted immediately received obligatory care. They’re all in stable condition and proceed to receive treatment,” Paramount’s statement continues.
No solid members, including Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, and Connie Nielsen, were reported injured.
The Post has contacted Paramount for comment.
The Paramount statement concluded: “The well-being of the solid and crew is of the utmost importance to us, and we have now strict health and safety procedures in place on all our productions. We’ll proceed monitoring the situation and taking all obligatory precautions as we resume production.”
“Gladiator” earned over $460 million on the worldwide box office upon its release in 2000.
Starring Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix, the film won five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor, for Crowe.
The sequel, directed by Ridley Scott, is ready to hit theaters Nov. 22, 2024.
Crowe, 59, shouldn’t be returning — and he has mixed feelings.
“I mean, look, the one thing that I actually feel about it’s barely jealous, you already know? Because I used to be a much younger man, obviously, and it was an enormous experience in my life,” Crowe recently told Collider.
“It’s something that modified my life, really. It modified the best way people regarded me and what I do for a living, and, you already know, I’ve been very lucky to be involved in a lot of big movies, however the legs on that film are incredible.”
