Brock Bowers is declaring for the NFL Draft.
The Georgia tight end announced Tuesday night on social media that he intends to go pro following three seasons with the Bulldogs.
Bowers, who won two national titles with Georgia, is projected to be considered one of the highest overall players on this yr’s draft, with the expectation that he could go in the highest half of the primary round.
“Words cannot describe how thankful I’m for what these last 3 years has brought. It has been an unbelievable honor and privilege to play for this university. It has given me memories that can last a lifetime,”Bowers wrote in his announcement on Instagram. “First, I’d wish to thank my family for at all times being there to support me through my journey. Especially my mom and pop for making countless trips across the country.
“Thanks Coach Smart and Coach Hartley for giving the chance to play for this program and the time, energy and energy you invested in me on and off the sphere. You guys challenged me in the whole lot we did, which allowed me to grow in additional ways than one. An enormous thanks to the support staff who was there to assist me navigate my way through all the ups and downs of being a student athlete.”
Bowers, 21, has been a standout for Georgia because the moment he stepped on the sphere for the college in 2021, becoming the one player in college football history to twice win the John Mackey Award (2022 and 2023) because the nation’s top tight end.
In his three seasons, the tight end has recorded 175 receptions, 2,538 receiving yards and 26 receiving touchdowns while adding one other five rushing touchdowns.
The 2022 first-team All-American holds a top-five spot at school history for receiving yards, receptions and receiving touchdowns.
He recorded 714 receiving yards on 56 receptions as a junior.
Bowers also had touchdown catches in each national championship games for the Bulldogs (2021 and 2022), and the team had a 38-2 record in games that he played in.
Bowers underwent ankle surgery this yr that caused him to miss three games.
The draft begins on April 25 in Detroit.
