A frosty mixture of snow and rain is anticipated to coat the Latest York City area later this week as a strong storm system continues to maneuver across the country.
“There might be mixed precipitation [in New York] at some points over the course of Thursday into the primary few hours of Friday,” FOX Weather meteorologist Christopher Tate told The Post on Tuesday morning.
“The division between rain and snow goes to be really near Latest York City itself,” he continued. “Someone within the Latest York metro area will see snow. Here in town, I believe it’s going to be predominantly rain.”
Higher elevations within the region can expect as much as 6 inches of snow before the system ushers in a dry but chilly weekend cold front.
“Sunday, we’ll have a tough time getting out of the 30s,” Tate said.
The storm’s Latest York arrival is the ultimate stop of a long-duration event that began in Alaska before sweeping down the West Coast.
“[The storm] brought rain and snow to the Pacific Northwest. It cut across the Midwest,” Tate said.
News of the storm comes as severe weather batters parts of the central US, with parts of South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota experiencing heavy snow and wind.
In a message shared Monday, the South Dakota Department of Public Safety called the conditions a “ ‘we will not be kidding’ sort of storm.’”
