Astonishing photos have emerged showing the moment a fishing vessel capsized off the coast of Scotland, sending the crew flee for safety in a lifeboat.
Ocean Maid BA55 capsized around 5:50 a.m. local time Monday off the coast of Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire in Scotland, the Fraserburgh Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) said.
RNLI then responded to a distress call by the four-person crew, who quickly abandoned the ship for a lifeboat.
One crew member was transferred to the hospital, while the opposite three were deemed advantageous by the Scottish Ambulance Service, STV News reported.
“The boat went aground at a notorious black spot which has seen many ships wrecked through the years,” RNLI wrote on Facebook. The update also shared several gloomy photos of the wreck, just a couple of yards from the Sovereign BF380, which partially sank in 2005.
“Well done to all involved,” one commenter wrote. One other followed up with “Excellent teamwork by the lifeboat crew…so glad to listen to all the boys secure and back onshore.”
The incident comes after a month after a tourist boat sank off the Galapagos Islands, leaving 4 dead and a number of other others missing.
