(Reuters) – Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook on Tuesday said the U.S. central bank is concentrated on addressing inflation that’s “much too high”, and businesses and elected officials could also be higher in a position to address problems with disparity within the labor market.
“Monetary policy is, as everyone knows, a blunt instrument,” Cook said at a Bank of Canada event on diversity, equity and inclusion in economics, finance and central banking. “The main target for the Federal Reserve is on addressing inflation, and we wish a sustainable, strong labor market.”
