Fatima Payman, the first elected official to wear a hijab in the Australian parliament, gave her first Senate address on July 27, where she encouraged young girls with hijabs to wear them ‘with pride.’
‘For those who choose to advise me about what I should wear or judge my competency based on my external experience, know that the hijab is my choice,’ the 27-year-old said.

So THIS freedom of religion is okay..
Who allowed that thing to open her mouth
I disagree with this. This woman is NOT wearing it by choice. She's brainwashed into believing that. Just like the Amish and Mennonite women in the U.S. Just like Catholic nuns. None of this should be acceptable anymore.
She's beautiful.
Now we need a rep who wears flip flops to the chamber!
awesome
Jesus some of the people in the comments are gross. I'm an atheist, and I think this is great. In Western countries (and Austrailia), women aren't forced to wear hijabs, and the choice to wear one should be protected and accepted.
Twinning! 😁
Bravo!
But seriously, they are called thongs!
🤣🤣🤣 100 years ago would anywhere have been as accepting?
And don’t get upset if someone chooses to wear a shirt that satirizes religion including the prophet Mohammad or chooses to wear satanic garb
Shine 🦋
For some reason, her accent goes perfectly with her personality.
So much to secularism, … I'm 21, but know for sure that our future sucks. You shouldn't wear an Antifa-Shirt of a construction helmet either, or any other distracting clothes. When your religion doesn't force to to wear certain clothes, it is more respectful to not wear them, as neutrality is important.
Senator Payman represents Western Australia, not “West Australia,” which is not an Australian State…🙄
I proud of you sister 💕💓💓💓 all the best
She seems smart and well dressed.
But the world judges how bad the fashion sense is in the rest of Australians. Flip flops and shorts. Bad suits and shoes.
Strongly religous people in politics are ALWAYS a dangerous development in ANY society!
Thank you sister, for your proudful speech
The hijab is not a religious garment – I mean, I guess people can make up whatever religious beliefs they want but – people wore them all over Europe long before Islam existed.
It’s just a scarf. This is no different than somebody deciding to wear a hat 100% of the time. It’s sad and weird that this is newsworthy.
She can hide bombs under those clothes…better search her so she doesn’t suicide bomb! Clearly this is a concern as many of her colleagues have done it in the past!
Yes about time ! Excellent
I am a bit skeptical not because I have against hijab but seeing the performance of ilhan omar US senator who is known for hijab but after that all her policies are anti islam. We as Muslims, our women and men dress as ordained by our Creator as did those who have gone before us but recently it has become an identity symbol rather than submitting to our Lord. I hope and pray this is not the case
we need less hiding womens beautiful hair. i feel bad
The hijab is a symbol of female chattelhood. Only the womans owner/husband can see her. Theocratic modesty/morality/woman as second class citizens or property nonsense has no business being promoted in a modern society.
Mixed feelings. I want to support her. And I think about if a religion kept women handcuffed while in public, is the girl raised in that culture making the choice to wear the handcuffs proudly?
It’s all so complicated.
There's no place for religion when you are a representative of the people
Y’all bash on hijabs yet don’t bat an eye at old ladies wearing headscarves…. If you want to be a miserable human being and hate on others all day just know you will never be remembered for anything.
How about we have everybody wear their religions garb? Let's see if she'll be so accommodating to other people wearing religious clothes. Why should Muslims alone be allowed to do that?. Just asking.
Good luck to her. It's a shame she has to spend her time talking about her headscald just to placate all the intolerants!! Live & let live, I say!!
Oh my. What next? Sharia law in 50 years?
Headscarf MP Fatima Payman is cooperating with the Turkish regime. This feudal agent working to disrupt Australian society relations must be expelled!
Omg! That means that she is 100% qualified for the job!!
She’s beautiful
❤️🧕🏽
Wearing hijab is an act of religious propaganda and is an example of abusing power in this caseis against
She looks like a Catholic Nun.
Nuns always get respect.
no no Australia don't do this, why you guys do this in first place, fukcing liberals problem everywhere, she ran from Afghanistan to do this in Australia
"And you will surely hear from those who were given the Scripture before you and from those who associate others with Allah/Creator many hurtful things. But if you are patient and mindful of Allah/Creator – indeed, that is of the matters (worthy) of resolve."
Holy Quran 3:186
Mind Begs the Question:
If Hijab – shields from Prying Eyes
Prying Eyes – no need to shield from
Prying Eyes – best to shield from?
