The ‘Family Guy’ isn’t a fan of those royal archetypes.
The adult animated comedy on Fox was not afraid to hurl a number of insults towards Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in an episode that aired Sunday evening.
Within the show, now in its twenty third season, cartoon versions of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appear poolside after the protagonist Peter Griffin compares himself to the royal couple while sitting at a bar along with his friends.
Frightened that he won’t have the ability to get back the cash he’s owed, Griffin decides that his best bet can be to tackle the world similar to the royals did once they announced their plans to step back from their roles as senior members of the British monarchy in late 2022.
“I’ll go it alone, similar to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry,” Griffin declares.
The scene cuts to Harry and Meghan, who’re approached by a Butler who attempts at hand Harry a stack of envelopes. “Sir, your tens of millions from Netflix for nobody knows what,” he says.
The Prince responds with a wave saying “put it with the remaining of them.” Suddenly an alert on Meghan’s phone sounds off causing her to announce: “Babe, time to do our day by day $250,000 sponsored Instagram post for Del Taco.”
The clip ends with Harry seemingly expressing some regret over leaving his privileged life in Britain as he publicizes, “I shouldn’t have left the made-up nonsense.”
The jab from the “Family Guy,” which was created by author, actor and comic Seth MacFarlane and first aired in 1999, is a direct reference to the couple’s infamous failed $20 million Spotify deal.
A source near the situation told The Post in June 2023 that the Archewell media company launched by Prince Harry, 39, and Markle, 42, didn’t produce enough content to receive the complete payout of the multi-million dollar deal the couple signed in 2020.
The cameo of the Sussexes from “Family Guy” is eerily harking back to recent comments made by Spotify CEO Bill Simmons, who referred to Meghan and Harry as “f–king grifters.”
This isn’t the primary time the couple have been a punchline on the expense of an animated series.
Just eight months earlier, Comedy Central’s long running hit show South Park trashed the royal couple in an episode titled “The Worldwide Privacy Tour.”
“Family Guy” airs Sundays at 9:30 p.m. ET
