DeAndre Hopkins made his thoughts on the Jets clear without saying a single word.
The five-time Pro Bowl and four-time All-Pro Cardinals receiver is now speaking for himself amid rumors of a trade request, and wrote in a since-deleted tweet Sunday afternoon that he “doesn’t need a raise.”
It could indicate that he’d be okay with a recent home and never necessarily a recent contract, but he didn’t elaborate using any subsequent tweets.
Moreover, in a video posted by CBS Sports on Sunday morning, Hopkins was asked — within the event the Arizona Cardinals would trade him — whether or not he’d be occupied with joining a number of teams, particularly.
The teams were the Jets, Recent England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs.
Hopkins only seemed occupied with potentially joining the latter two, and was visibly — since it’s really only a visible hint — discontent with the considered being a Jet or Patriot.
Though they’ve added former Green Bay Packers receiver Allen Lazard to a four-year, $44 million deal this offseason, the Jets recently pursued Odell Beckham Jr. before he signed with the Ravens last week.
The Jets also signed former Chiefs wideout Mecole Hardman to a one-year deal, injecting some speed into their offense, and so they traded former second-round pick Elijah Moore to the Browns.
Hopkins caught 64 passes for 717 yards and three touchdowns last season, his third in Arizona, where he was limited to nine games in 2022 — impacted by a PED violation that was accompanied by a six-game suspension.
The Clemson alum had six 1,000-yard receiving seasons between 2014-20, and for his profession, he’s caught 853 passes for 11,298 yards and 71 touchdowns.
Hopkins is ready to start out a two-year, $54.5 million extension this season, which was signed in 2020.
