The excitement linking Dalvin Cook to Latest York is simply getting louder.
The star running back’s agent, Zac Hiller, said in a recent interview that he likes the environment the Jets are cultivating, most notably with the addition of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
“I believe the Jets have an ideal thing going,” Hiller told Jets podcaster Paul Andrew Esden.
“They’re all in. They need to win a Super Bowl. I believe they need to bring a Super Bowl to Latest York City. They brought in an incredible, first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback. Those [types of players] aren’t just on the market like that. [Rodgers] is an entire franchise city-changing player and that’s any person that you just absolutely need to play with sooner or later in your profession, a hundred percent.”
The Dolphins, a Jets AFC East rival, have also been linked to Cook, as they might be trying to complement its already-impressive offense featuring Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle with a running back like Cook, who’s a Miami native.
Cook has been a Pro Bowler for 4 straight seasons and is emerging from a season through which he carried the ball 264 times for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns.
Following the Vikings’ release of Cook in early June, he’s looking for a deal of around $10 million, per the Miami Herald.
For the Jets, who’ve limited cap space and are monitoring second-year running back Breece Hall’s return from an ACL injury, Cook would likely must take a pay cut to be a legitimate option.
The Jets even have Michael Carter entering his third season.
Carter finished 2022 with 402 rushing yards on 114 carries.
“Lots of people got me pegged going back home [with the Dolphins], and a variety of people got me going to the Jets,” Cook said on SiriusXM NFL Radio earlier in June. “It’s in all places without delay. But what’s going to be necessary for me is just going to that right situation and helping any person turn the page.
“I would like to go and be the piece that may just help any person win and recover from the hump, and whatever that situation comes with — if it comes with me taking less reps but me being in the proper situation to carry up that trophy — I don’t mind.”
