The forged of “Saturday Night Live” was entering into the Christmas spirit by drinking away their feelings and shading Elon Musk and Kanye West in a festive musical number.
The NBC sketch show began Saturday with Kenan Thompson, Cecily Strong and Bowen Yang gathered across the tree to sing concerning the pitfalls of the vacation season.
“My drinking, it’s beginning to get out of hand. I knew that it could have crossed right into a dark place when Burger King said I used to be banned,” Thompson crooned, with eggnog in hand.
“My mental health hasn’t been great. I get up at noon and the sun’s one way or the other setting, then I fall back asleep around 8. But I can live in a delusional state, for Christmas,” Yang bellowed.
The songbirds then turned their lyrical content to current events, including Musk’s Twitter takeover and West’s professed love of Nazi Germany’s leader.
“Elon. Why does he own all of the stuff? Why does he must run Tesla and Twitter, was outer space not enough?,” Strong sang.
“Since when did Hitler come back? Didn’t we mainly all agree years ago Hitler should never come back?, crooned Yang, before Thompson ended his refrain with “And why are his recent fans black?”
The long tenured SNL forged member also proposed a “no-remember December,” as Strong admitted she mixed Xanax inside her holiday libations.
The comedian predicted that her dependence on alcohol wouldn’t improve after the Christmas decorations were put away.
“What happens in January?,” she sang. “We explode. We freak out and threaten our ex. We drink to the purpose where we contemplate murder and accept Venmo payments for sex.”
Steve Martin returned to host the show for the sixteenth time alongside ex-cast member Martin Short.
Martin shared a drugged out picture of him with John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd and Mick Jagger on the set of one in all his first hosting gigs.
“Right after this photo was taken, we tested positive for all the things,” Martin cracked.
“We’re like Harry and Meghan, nobody is routing for us but they’ll tune in anyway,” joked Short, his co-star within the Hulu series “Only Murders within the Constructing.”
Martin and short reprised their roles from hit movie “Father of the Bride” with 52-year-old daughter Heidi Gardner preparing for her eighth marriage.
Kieran Culkin, who played the bride’s brother in the unique movie, also stopped by to catch up.
“By the way in which, no cake for me, I actually have a colonoscopy tomorrow,” the grown up kid brother cracked.
Things got tense when Short, playing an eccentric wedding planner, suggested Martin pay for his daughter’s vaginal rejuvenation, but Selena Gomez, playing herself, saved the day by agreeing to perform on the nuptials for less than $1.8 million.
The episode uncharacteristically left politics out of the cold open, but Weekend Update spoofed the newest headlines, including the outcomes of the Georgia Senate runoff.
“I don’t think that is the last you’ll hear from Herschel Walker. I mean, unless he’s your biological father,” fake news anchor Michael Che joked.
“WNBA star Brittney Griner was free of prison in exchange for Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout,” said co-anchor Colin Jost.
“It’s actually an ideal trade because Bout was only averaging five points and two rebounds a game.”
Musical guest Brandi Carlile performed her songs “You and Me on the Rock” and “The Story.”
The show returns live next week, hosted by actor Austin Butler featuring the Manhattan indie rock darlings Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
