WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration on Wednesday said it would ask a federal court to maintain pandemic-era restrictions for migrants on the U.S.-Mexico border in place, a striking reversal after they sought to finish the restrictions this spring.
The administration wants a better court to overturn a November ruling by U.S. District Court of Columbia Judge Emmet Sullivan invalidating an order often called Title 42, which blocks some asylum seekers on the border.
The administration also said the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is working on a regulation to formalize the border restrictions.
